About Attic Beats

Attic Beats is a (somewhat) weekly podcast of music ranging from hip-hop to jazz to soul to noise to reggae to international folk. Shows generally run from 30-60 minutes, with the most recent five shows (and one older, archived show) available at any given time. The music used is generally out-of-print or hard-to-find with vinyl as the primary source. The broadcasts are 128kb CBR mp3s. I make no money from this and am truly trying to “spread the music.” That’s all.

“Attic Beats” is a misnomer, as the show is recorded in my basement, not my attic. But the show’s title refers to shows I DJed in college: “Sounds from the Attic” during my freshman year and “Return to the Attic” during my senior year. Those shows were appropriately named, as the radio station was at the very top of the building it was housed in. See “The Timeline” below for more information.

I don’t take specific song requests, but I will take suggestions for show themes. Feel free to let me know about your music if you’d like me to feature it. I encourage feedback… let me know you’re listening and that I’m not just talking to myself like I was during college.

Enjoy the vibes.
